Dr. Mpho Tsedu is a distinguished political scholar whose career is characterized by a unique synthesis of rigorous academic research, high-level government service, and influential public engagement. His scholarly work is deeply informed by a foundational engagement with African political philosophies (Zikism, Consciencism, and Black Consciousness) which he employs to interrogate the intricate dynamics of race, identity, and power in the contemporary global landscape. Building upon this philosophical grounding, Dr. Tsedu's research portfolio extends to critical issues in international relations and African politics. His investigations include the theory and practice of diplomacy, the reform of the United Nations Security Council, as well as the structures and tensions within the international political economy. Dr. Tsedu's theoretical expertise is substantiated by a robust practical career. He has served as a Ministerial-level advisor, where he provided strategic policy insight at the highest echelons of government. Furthermore, he spent many years as a leading television anchor for political and current affairs programming, a role in which he shaped public discourse and democratized complex political debates. He continues to contribute his analytical perspective through opinion articles in various prominent publications. He holds a PhD in Political Studies from Nelson Mandela University, an MA in Politics from the University of Johannesburg, a BA Hons in Politics and International Relations (also from the University of Johannesburg), and a BA in Political Science and International Politics from the University of the North, Turfloop. While serving as a Member of the Distribution Agency of the National Lotteries Commission, he is also a member of the SABC Board, LCX Board and is a Council member of the Chief Albert Luthuli Museum.
